Climate risk = investment risk

I’m in Riga holding a lecture for the Tourism Industry about the business opportunities that follows, if you answer to Greta and Larrys call. And how you can build stronger relationships with customers by playing a more important role in their lives.

Recap: Greta and Larry are two of the most powerful people of today. They represent the people and the money (owned by people). Everybody knows about Gretas statement. But equally interesting are the words from Larry Fink, CEO of BlackRock.

He is clear where the money is going. Investors and Funds will not invest in companies without a sustainable plan on how to solve the climate crises. He claims that companies not dealing with the climate crisis is under a huge financial risk, a risk that owners don’t want to take. Why is this so interesting? Well, money rules, independent of what Greta is saying. And now the money begins to talk. In his letter to CEOs Larry Finks says:

“I believe we are on the edge of a fundamental reshaping of finance... There will be a significant reallocation of capital.

And as owners, BlackRock will not be passive regarding the initiatives of the companies.

“We will vote against management and board directors when companies are not making sufficient progress on sustainability-related disclosures and the business practices and plans underlying them.”

Involving the customers in a positive change might be an opportunity to play a more important role in peoples. We have started to se brilliant examples of that.

So, companies that wants to attract customers in the future and wants to succeed financially, better act. Fast.

Now we are only waiting for the politicians to increase the pace by some brave decisions...
